Restricted use of H5P elements
The H5P libraries were recently updated from version 1.27 to 1.28. As a result, H5P has been given a new look. At the same time, however, some issues have arisen that restrict the use of certain elements. The H5P ‘Interactive Video’ element is particularly affected. So far, we have observed the following issues:
- LaTeX rendering in drag objects no longer works correctly: As a result, all questions that use LaTeX are currently unusable.
- Changed display of drag elements: The new layout alters the sizes, spacing and positions of the drag elements, meaning that many existing questions no longer function as intended.
- Existing drag-and-drop elements can no longer be edited: This affects image-based drag objects.
- Feedback is missing for certain question types: For ‘Single Choice Set’ questions in Interactive Video, the messages stored under Adaptivity (‘Reactions to user input’) are no longer displayed.
Unfortunately, there is currently no workaround. As soon as we have one, or if there is any new information regarding these limitations, we will inform you here.
MySQL Database Server Maintenance - MFA Restricted
During the specified maintenance window, the IT Center will perform maintenance on the MySQL databases used by the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) service. As part of the maintenance, the databases will be unavailable for a total of approximately 15 minutes.
During this time, new logins to services using RWTH Single Sign-On will not be possible. Existing sessions will remain active and will not be affected by the maintenance.
Playback errors with embedded YouTube videos (Apple devices only)
Currently, YouTube videos that have been embedded using H5P activity display ‘Error 153’. The error occurs on Apple devices only but is in relation to the used device and browser. The problem applies to the newest version as well as older ones.
YouTube videos embedded in H5P content currently have limited functionality on Apple devices using the common browsers Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. On macOS, they can be played in Chrome and Firefox, but in Safari, error 153 appears instead of the video. On iOS and iPadOS, error 153 appears in Safari, Firefox, and Chrome.
The cause is a bug in WebKit-based browsers combined with a change in the guidelines for the embedded YouTube player. Unfortunately, there is currently neither a fix for the bug nor a solution from Moodle or H5P. As a workaround, please use a browser other than Safari and a device other than an iPhone or iPad on macOS.

Proxy - SW-Update
In the course of a software update, the individual proxies are restarted. Due to the HA implementation, there should be no failures. Affected are among others mail, WLAN VPN/Shibboleth (because of LDAP).
