Due to work on the storage system (Ceph Storage), the following applications will be affected during the maintenance period between 9:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.:
- RWTHonline: Documents cannot be uploaded or downloaded in the “Submission of Final Theses” application. File uploads should also be completed before the maintenance period at 9:30 a.m. to avoid errors.
- RWTHmoodle: It will not be possible to play or edit existing videos or upload new videos. Only videos made available via the “Opencast” streaming application will be affected.
- Lecture hall streaming: It will not be possible to stream videos from the lecture halls.
- GitLab: No uploads (or downloads) of user files and images, no CI-CD pipelines, no artifacts and registries, and no LFS will be available. Backups will also not be possible.
- Linux installation server: The provision of Linux RPM packages and Kickstart files will be affected during the maintenance period.

The maintenance has been successfully completed.

Currently, Opencast videos cannot be played. Our specialist department has already been informed and is working on resolving the issue.
It is also not possible to import or upload Videos.

On Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 7 to 8 a.m., the RWTH streaming server Opencast will be updated to version 18.
Following maintenance, all existing videos will be reindexed.
Videos cannot be played during reindexing. The Opencast block for uploading new videos is also unavailable.
Reindexing is expected to last until October 10, 2025, at 12 noon. Please refer to the latest information in the maintenance portal.

Opencast videos cannot be played at the moment. The import of videos from other learning rooms and the processing of uploaded videos are also not possible.

The malfunction has been resolved.

There are currently technical problems with the Wacom tablet in lecture hall H03 (C.A.R.L.) Due to a loose contact, it may display a black screen and therefore cannot be operated. As a result, the use of the lecture hall PC is also restricted or not possible. We are already working on replacing the device as soon as possible.

The lecture hall computer (Hörsaal-PC) in the Physics lecture hall (Hörsaal Physik) cannot be used at the moment. There is a malfunction on the screen that causes the image to flicker and prevents unrestricted use. Until the problem has been resolved, please use your own device. The video conference computer is available as usual.

Due to DNS disruption, the name servers of various providers are currently not returning an IP address for hosts under *.rwth-aachen.de.
As a workaround, you can store alternative DNS servers in your connection settings, e.g. the Level3-Nameserver (4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.1) or Comodo (8.26.56.26 und 8.20.247.20). It may also be possible to reach the RWTH VPN server, in which case please use VPN.

There are currently problems with the playback of Opencast videos in RWTHmoodle. It has been reported several times that the videos freeze while the sound continues to play.
