As part of the rollout of a central GitLab instance for all universities in North Rhine-Westphalia, the git.rwth-aachen.de service will be migrated to git.nrw.

The transition started on June 2, 2026, and will continue until July 1, 2027.

The transition is currently in its first phase, the migration phase:
git.rwth-aachen.de will remain available for regular use until January 4, 2027.
Project managers should begin migrating their data to git.nrw or an alternative GitLab instance. Starting the migration early is recommended to ensure the availability of the projects. Project managers are responsible for migrating their projects themselves!

Please note that the current migration may result in increased system load, which may occasionally cause performance to be slightly slower. We are continuously working on optimizations to improve stability and minimize any potential limitations.

As a precaution following a recent security vulnerability, access to the git.nrw object storage is temporarily restricted. This affects e.g. uploads, pipelines, artifacts and job logs. Access will be restored once final checks with our infrastructure partner are complete. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The object storage is available again.

Due to a critical security vulnerability, the service is currently unavailable via https.

Due to unexpected errors during yesterdays security updates the update needs to be restarted on the git-ce.rwth-aachen.de instance causing a short downtime.

Due to a security-critical update released today, maintenance will take place earlier than scheduled. Maintenance will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

Due to security-critical patches, git.rwth-aachen.de and git-ce.rwth-aachen.de will undergo an update today from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. During this time, GitLab will have limited availability.
