Due to a critical security vulnerability in Microsoft Exchange, temporary changes had to be made to the system to prevent this vulnerability from being exploited. The necessary configuration changes affect the webmail client and, according to the manufacturer, may have the following side effects:

1) The Light version of the webmail client is currently disabled
2) Images in the message body may not display correctly.
3) Printing the calendar in the webmail client does not work.
4) Published calendars might not work with error 500.

Microsoft is working on a patch to address this vulnerability. Once the patch is available, the changes mentioned above can be reversed.

Das System wird einer turnusmäßigen Wartung unterzogen. Ein Ausfall des E-Mail Dienstes ist nicht zu erwarten. Allerdings kann es aus Nutzendensicht kurzfristig zu Verbindungsabbrüchen kommen.

Ab dem 01.10.2026 wird die Bereitstellung der API zur Verwaltung von Mailadressen über die SOAP API eingestellt. Alternativ steht seit dem 14.01. eine REST API mit gleicher Funktionalität zur Verfügung.

In the course of a software update, the individual proxies are restarted. Due to the HA implementation, there should be no failures. Affected are among others mail, WLAN VPN/Shibboleth (because of LDAP).

We are currently observing a high number of reported phishing emails. The current top reported subjects are these:

• Incoming & Outgoing Server Blocked Thu, July 2, 2026
• Aktualisierung Ihres Profils im Universitätsverzeichnis

However, it is very likely that additional subjects will be observed. If necessary we will update this list with further information.

Please check received emails for typical phishing signs, such as:

• suspicious sender
• links to external URLs
• artificial urgency
